Process and supervision of theses
Bachelor thesis
Overall:
- Seminar on the Bachelor’s thesis: takes place in the form of structured consultation hours (see points 3 – 8 in the schedule)
- Correction of the thesis: usually 4-6 weeks, max. 2 months (according to examination regulations)
Typical Procedure:
1. | Information on advertised theses on the website of the junior professorship |
2. | Contact: Please send an e-mail with a brief description of your motivation for the advertised topic as well as a current CV and transcript of records to: lisa.handke@fau.de

3. | pre-talk: clarification/specification of the topic, outline of the research question |
4. | preparation of the exposé: basis for the start of the Bachelor thesis |
5. | consultation (and/or written feedback) on the exposé |
6. | consultation on methodology (design, recruitment strategies, measuring instruments, etc.) |
7. | if required: consultation for evaluation |
8. | Registration of the Bachelor thesis: at the latest 9 weeks before the end of the semester |
9. | Send first version for feedback by e-mail

Master thesis
Overall:
- Seminar on the Master thesis: usually 2 block dates, only offered in the summer semester; in the winter semester offered in the form of structured consultation hours
- Correction of the thesis: usually 4-6 weeks, max. 2 months (according to examination regulations)
